A favorite among many conference attendees and business travelers, the Doubletree Hotel (by Hilton) is located on the Southbank of downtown Jacksonville. This is the business and commercial district of the city center, while the surrounding districts of Avondale, Riverside, and San Marco offer various cultural attractions, sidewalk cafés, and boutique shops. It looks great since they just had a recent remodel.

Dining
For dinner, there’s the excellent Ruth’s Chris Steak House within the hotel where your seafood craving can be sated while you take in the view of the majestic St. John’s River. Inside it is the Riverview Lounge, which is the upscale bar that offers exotic cocktails. There’s also a Lobby Lounge where you can relax, as it has a full menu and a happy hour. For casual dining (and for breakfast) you can also try out the St. Johns Provision Co. restaurant, where you can get a taste of the regional dishes.
Amenities
It’s no wonder that lots of people traveling for business love the Doubletree Hilton Hotel since it offers a lot of business amenities. You have meeting rooms and a business center, and you can rent the audio-visual equipment. You’ve got all the business equipment needed here, from the high-tech video conferencing system to such antiquated technology as a fax machine. There is even a typewriter (which kids think are “real time printers attached to a keyboard”).
Of course, it’s not all about business. You can work out in the hotel’s 24-hour fitness center, or enjoy the outdoor swimming pool after a full day of meetings. Or you can just relax on a lounger in your terrace.
Other Attractions
Since you’re in the heart of downtown Jacksonville, there are a lot of places you can visit. There’s a water taxi stop nearby so you can get across the river to The Landing where there is a shopping mall and a lot of waterfront dining options. It’s been hailed as “Jacksonville’s Most Beloved Landmark”, as its restaurants and nightclubs will keep you entertained through the night.
